Summary
The house was unusually still. Even the summer wind seemed to pause at the corners of the Burrow, leaving only the faint hum of the streetlights and the quiet creak of the wooden floors. Harry had been pacing, trying to shake the restlessness that always came at this time of year, part anticipation, part unease, and had paused near the kitchen table to catch his breath.
Then he noticed it.
A piece of parchment, folded neatly, sitting on the edge of the table as if it had been waiting for him. No owl. No flicker of magic. No sound to announce its arrival. The air smelled faintly of salt, brine, and something else he couldn’t name.
Harry’s hand hovered over it, uncertain. He had learned long ago that things appearing without explanation rarely meant anything simple. Still… there was something familiar in the weight of it, the way it seemed to pulse softly beneath his fingers.Series

Harry sat on the edge of the Burrow’s porch, quill in hand, the warm summer air drifting over the garden. He had been staring at the blank parchment for a long time, waiting for the words to come, and for the first time in weeks, he wasn’t thinking about curses, lessons, or Voldemort. He was thinking about someone else, a boy somewhere across the ocean who had somehow reached him.
He dipped the quill in ink, then paused. There were things he wanted to say. Things about the nights he couldn’t sleep, the weight that pressed down no matter what he did, the way the world always seemed to notice him first and ask questions later. But he didn’t say those things in many words. He didn’t need to. He only wrote enough for Percy to feel the truth.

Percy Jackson has always felt odd. There was something that lurked in the back of his mind, that haunted his dreams. I guess that is what happens when you are a demigod who was completely unaware of his heritage until he was 12 years old.
Even after Camp Half-Blood, after the monsters and the prophecies and the wars everyone kept insisting were his problem, that feeling never really went away. It dulled sometimes, during capture the flag, or late nights at the campfire, but it was always there, like a tide pulling at him from somewhere far beyond the horizon.In July of 1996, it took on a new shape.
