Summary
NIS operative Han Jisung is everything but okay. While trying to cope with new trauma, he's sent on an long-term undercover mission to retrieve information from a North Korean sleeper cell agent. Jisung's way in is through the agent's grandson, leaving him with a secondary mission: make Lee Minho fall in love with him. And it's fine. They broke up in the summer.
It had been warm. Their apartment’s air conditioner was broken, so the window unit they’d installed had been on, creating a thick fog of white noise. Minho’s skin had been hot to the touch from anger that had boiled over, and the summer heat. Jisung had looked the same, his skin glowing pink and eye makeup smudged.
He still looked beautiful. Even tinted with the colors of anger, there was no one prettier than Han Jisung.

Summary
“Jisung— look.”
Jisung registers the snow, but he doesn’t focus on it. No, his gaze is caught on the boy standing just a few feet away from him, the boy whose eyes are wide with amazement and whose mouth is curled into innocent pleasure.
Jisung’s entire body aches, and he watches helplessly as Minho raises a hand, watching snowflakes settle and melt against the fabric of his glove.
Standing there in the snow, Minho looks more beautiful than he ever has.
So Jisung skates over and takes the not-at-all surprised Minho into his arms, and kisses him.

Summary
“So, we’ve checked another thing off your bucket list?” Jisung rubs a thumb over the warm skin of Minho’s lower back, smiling when he receives a purr of pleasure in return.
“I wasn’t aware I had a bucket list.” Minho’s eyes slip closed as Jisung’s fingertips skate up his spine, underneath the fabric of his hoodie.
“You do. Your little horny list.”
“I refuse to call it my horny list, you’re so awful.” Jisung pulls away to meet Minho’s eyes, snickering lowly. Minho hits him on the shoulder, cheeks reddening, but his expression softens like melting butter and he shudders when Jisung trails his fingers down his side, over the gentle bumps of his ribs, to his waist.
Jisung is petting him—like a cat—and Minho is absolutely basking in the attention.
“Well, what are you going to call it?”
Minho rolls his eyes, but then he’s meeting Jisung’s eyes and Jisung can see the sparkle of playfulness that has caught and held. “My kissing list?”
“Your kissing list.” Jisung takes one of Minho’s hands into his own and presses a kiss to the base of his palm. “I like it.”

Summary
Jisung steps into Minho’s path and the prosecutor looks at him, looks him straight in the eyes, but doesn’t say a word.
Suspicion is thick in his throat, making it hard for Jisung to speak. “You did a good job today, Prosecutor Lee.”
Minho’s eyes widen the slightest when he recognizes Jisung’s voice, and it takes him a moment too long to reply. “You— You came.”
And all of Jisung’s assumptions are proven true with just those few words.
Lee Minho can’t recognize faces.

Summary
He can hear Jisung stand up too, but he doesn’t turn around. Instead he lets his eyes close, only to find Jisung painted on the backs of his lids. It makes his hands shake.
“I’ve never met someone like you.”
Jisung shuffles forward before responding. “Hm? How am I different?”
Minho turns around. It’s painful to look at Jisung, a beacon right down the middle of the dark playground, but he does anyway. He thinks about the question for just a moment, because the words are already escaping him.
“You’re someone I can’t see through.”
Jisung laughs at that, eyes squishing up as every dimension of space around him glitters. “Well, I’m pleased to know that I’ve managed to hold your interest.”
Oh no, you’ve known. You’ve known since that day in the library that I’m incapable of looking away.
Minho turns back around and tilts his head up. He focuses on the sky this time, vast and dark. Looking at the endless sky is easier than looking at Jisung, the labyrinth of a man.
A maze Minho has no chance of escaping.

Summary
“Jisung.” Minho’s voice has gone kind of raspy, and when Jisung straightens up he’s burning red with embarrassment. Minho is staring at him, fully dumbstruck, eyes wide and cheeks flushed. “Jisung,” he repeats, and the gruffness in his tone is still there. “Han Jisung, are you saying you took advantage of me? While I was under the influence of a double dose of cold medicine?”
Jisung can’t do anything but nod.
Minho blinks at him once, twice, then a third time. When he speaks, his voice is made up of a mix of shock, amusement, and what seems to be a bit of fondness.
“You’re going to be the death of me, aren’t you.”
Jisung really doesn’t know what to say to that.

Summary
Jisung doesn’t look anything but composed and unagitated, even in the midst of this chaos. But Minho has to assume that that is part of his job—to keep calm in the face of danger. And Minho knows that Jisung is capable, that he can protect himself, but there’s worry wedged deep within him, worry that makes him want to reach out to Jisung for reassurance. But he doesn’t.
Instead he whispers a faint “Stay safe” that, although they’re surrounded by people and tears and noise is somehow heard, as Jisung repeats it back to him. And even if he hadn’t heard the reply, Minho can see in Jisung’s eyes that he’s sincere.
That he truly is wishing for Minho’s safety.
For a moment, all there is is them. There’s no disaster, there are no victims to be treated. It’s just them.
But moments like these don't last, not for them, because Han Jisung is a police officer and Lee Minho is a doctor, and around them, peace will always be matched with turmoil.

“You have never been a coward in my eyes,” Jisung says, tipping Minho’s chin up. “Just someone from a powerful station who needs to be cautious. I could never look at you poorly for wanting to do what’s best.”
“If you don’t see me as a coward, might you feel similarly to me?”
Jisung sighs, fond, as he cradles Minho’s cheek. “If you don’t know that I look at you like you mean the world, I’d call you the fool of us two.”

Minho ducks his head in the familiar way to hide his smile, but Jisung can still make it out. “I couldn’t just leave you to keel over and drown in a puddle of your own runoff,” Minho says, “what would we have done with your body?”
“I’d make a good doorstop,” Jisung jokes, but it falls flat when he spots Minho’s eyes dart to his arms.
“Maybe,” Minho says, fidgeting with the hem of his sweater. “You seem to, um, have enough muscle.”

"Jisungie," Minho whispers, right next to his ear. It sends shivers racing down his spine. "Catch me if you want your gift."
There's the sound of footsteps and Jisung's eyes snap open, mouth gaping in betrayal at Minho, who is already nearing the tree line and laughing as he dashes for the woods. Jisung—pulling himself together to the best of his ability—runs after Minho, determined to catch him.
Jisung isn't particularly competitive by nature, so he's driven by something other than wanting to prove his speed or other abilities. It's not that he wants the gift, because he does, but he wants Minho more than anything else.
It's then, when he's hopping fallen logs under the cover of trees to catch up, he realizes that he'd follow Minho anywhere.

“Obnoxious!” Minho cries as Peter jumps off of the crate, landing next to him. “You’re obnoxious, Lieutenant Han.”

His finger moves to brush along the part of Minho's lips, dipping in just slightly to pull at his lower lip. "And you still like to pretend that you aren't mine."
