For as long as I can remember, I've been a lesbian.
I came out at twelve years old, had never so much as thought of a boy as anything other than... in existence, I guess. They did absolutely nothing for me- and the thought of intimacy with someone of the opposite gender sounded as painful as drowning to me.
That's been my life the past four years, and I was perfectly content keeping it that way.
Until this summer.
It was hot, surprisingly clear for Cork- and the rugby game in Johnny's back garden was proving as entertainment enough. And then I happened to look up at just the right second.
Because he went to push the hair off his forehead, grinning for once, and instead of noticing the way his dimple dented in his cheek, I noticed the way his shirt rode up. Not a lot. Just enough to show the fact that the insane routine he keeps up with pays off.
He looked over, still smiling, and that's when I looked up.
Dimple still showing, we locked eyes for a second, maybe two.
