There are many times Crowley comes a little too close to saying—or doing—something about how he feels. Plenty of times he finds himself dangerously close to getting too close to Aziraphale, stepping into his personal space and waiting to see how he reacts before getting even closer, so close there's not enough space between them even for God—that damned ineffable bastard—to interfere.

The survey had been Crawly’s idea. While he hadn’t originally planned on coming topside so soon in his demonic career, he really hadn’t trusted any of the others to get this one right. Neither had Lucifer, apparently, because according to Beelzebub (who passed the idea along, endlessly suited to being a middle-man despite not being a man of any description) it was Crawly’s job and Crawly’s job alone.

Summary
Tri and Zelda had a theory that Link’s cloak had worked so well as a disguise in part because the castle guards weren’t really looking at her but rather paying attention to her princess attire. When Zelda and Link had realized they were close enough in size to share clothes beyond the cloak, she’d suggested that he should test the theory by walking into the castle as her. Link decided to take the whole challenge seriously. After all, if he was going to infiltrate the castle, he wanted to do it right.

“A couple,” says Aziraphale. “We’re a couple. You know that, I know that, you said your whole ‘the group of the two of us’ bit. And even God…” He trails off uncomfortably. No use getting into all of that now, months after the whole Second-Not-Coming nonsense. He asks, “But are we a… ‘Valentine’s Day’ sort of couple?”
“I don’t even know what that means,” Crowley protests desperately.

It’s their first Valentine's Day as that sort of couple, and Aziraphale and Crowley are determined to do as humans do. Five times London finds a way to ruin their perfect night, and the one time a perfect night finds them.
