As their friendship progresses everything else in Kara's life shifts drastically and she ends up needing Lena more than previously intended. Lena, on her end, never thought she would have a friend like Kara and she fears her feelings might get in the way.
A season re-write of Kara and Lena becoming best friends, realizing they have more than platonic feelings for their best friend, being in denial for a little bit, fighting everyone who judges their relationship and says they shouldn’t be friends, whilst wanting to be more than friends, defending each other at all costs, helping each other when things get hard, and just being hopelessly in love. With appearances of Winn being Kara’s best bro, Alex who needs to chill and stop being so overprotective, James who is being a little bit of a hypocrite and should learn how to separate Luthors and Supers, everyone just being a tad bit judgmental, tabloids invading their privacy and speculating on their relationship, and Kara and Lena not giving a fuck because they believe in each other and what they feel and that’s all that matters.

It’s a question she’s like, ninety-five percent sure she already knows the answer to, but asking it is worth it just to see Lena roll her eyes and shove at Kara’s arm, as if she’d genuinely been expecting her to ask a really serious question.
“Big, obviously,” she says, but not even ten minutes later, Kara finds herself with her arms engulfing Lena’s tiny body, chin resting in the junction between her shoulder and neck, blissfully happy.

There was never even a hint of pity behind expensive frames, merely a hopeful expectation that was never quite shielded by her usual mask of indifference. She’d been drawn to Lena whenever their paths crossed, that much was clear, but Lena didn’t quite expect the life gifted to her by the woman who seemed like she was much too good for her.
Even now, as she snuggles closer and allows the hand that reddened her bottom to gently rub the sting away, Lena can’t quite believe her luck. She stays there for several moments, safely tucked against Mommy’s side as her sniffles quieten and her tears dry, safe and secure with the one person in the world who has her back and has no plans to leave her alone ever again.
