Summary
Wei Ying is bursting with excitement. His cheeks hurt, he can’t stop grinning. It’s still crazy he ended up here, and he will make the most out of it. Maybe he will even meet the love of his life, who knows! He chuckles at the thought. Probably not.
Wei Ying rubs his hands over his pants and looks back to the path. The next person is coming. Long hair is swept by the wind, something is fluttering behind them. They seem tall and athletic.
“Oh wow,” the woman beside him says under her breath.
This has to be the most beautiful man I have ever seen, Wei Ying thinks. He looks like a model ready for a shot at the beach. He wears white linen pants and some kind of half see-through top in light blue. The fluttery thing behind him is a white ribbon. His jaw looks chiseled from stone, he has prominent cheekbones, a straight nose and his eyes are piercing, as he looks around the gathered people. He bows to them in greeting and meets their eyes. When he sees Wei Ying, he startles. Wei Ying is also shocked. Instead of bursting out his name and jumping from his seat, he just nods and smiles even wider.---

Summary
There are stars in Wei Ying’s eyes. Lights glow around her, twinkle, color her eyes a warm silver. And the stars dance in her irises, glimmering, pulling Lan Zhan in. Wei Ying’s pupils are blown wide, dark enough to fall into. A gravitational pull, there is no escape. Lan Zhan knows her eyes are much the same, but less entrancing, less…inviting. Even under the pull of the MDMA, Lan Zhan holds back, but she’s losing her grip as the trip peaks.

He studied the flower for a short second. It was very pretty—beautiful, even. A pale, calming blue orchid, with a tender green stem. It looked fragile between his long fingers.
“You don’t like it, do you?” Wei Ying said. More like a pout, the way his big, dark eyes went round, and his mouth shaped around his words, chin tipped low. Again—grown ass man, in jeans, unspeakably cute—how?
Lan Zhan, feeling cold all over, spoke one word at a time. “What is it for?”
Wei Ying seemed to sparkle at that, a skip to his step. “Don’t you know, Lan Zhan? It’s the first today. Namesake day. Made me think of you, so I got you that. What’s more perfect, right—a blue orchid? Anyway, why don’t we go grab dinner together? Drinks on me,” he said, and winked.

The Killing Chord strikes Jingyi’s appointed boulder. It cracks that in half, too.
Not half a second after Lan Yuan follows Jingyi into the crevice, the yaoguai strikes the stone, talons scrabbling at the crevice, beak pecking at the entrance they’ve made themselves. A red, furious, glowing eye peers in after them, and Lan Yuan stumbles back blindly, vaguely downwards. He’s staring at the entrance, at the clear and present danger. Neither of them are looking backward.
In hindsight, it’s the worst mistake they make all day.
Wei Ying has spent years sealed under a mountain. It's just his luck that the kids who break him out of it are Lans.
