Summary
Lachlan Pucey joins the Montreal Metros as a rookie with all eyes on him. After a year spent in the AHL, developing and preparing for his NHL debut, he's not going to let anything distract him from playing the best hockey he can and proving to everyone watching that he's just as good of a player as his old man was and his big brother is.
Hank Crawford is a second round draft pick that comes into the league after two years playing the college circuit. He's got no one's expectations to live up to save for his own, but there's a lot riding on him making a name for himself in Montreal. It's the best day of his life when Shane Hollander calls to invite him to training camp in September, bar none.
Lachlan and Crawford are fast friends. Hard not to be when they have so much in common, when it's so easy to kill an afternoon hanging out and playing video games beside each other on the couch. When it starts to feel like the only deep breaths they're able to take are the ones they take when they're side by side, on the ice or at home or out in the city.
They're fast friends. Good friends. Best friends. That's all they can be; hockey is everything else.

*insert vince mcmahon crying meme* cut the camera's ya'll they're so in love and so happy. I loved everything about this fic. It's so characterful and specific. Each vingette is revealing and tender and wonderful. I was particularly taken by the gay rookies in crisis subplot because it remnded me of that one sidgeno fic with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. The yearning for a life you think you can't have but finding your way to it angst is particulary moving. And I liked good friend Hayden Pike cause it feels like everyone hates him which I get but it still makes me sad. The first fic was excellent but this just elevated it into the stratosphere

The second time Shane Hollander wakes up on November 16th, he has a panic attack.
The problem is — he tries to explain through gasped breaths after Hayden basically knocks down his door, shouting that they’re going to miss their flight — the thing is, Shane’s already woken up on November 16th. He’s already flown to Boston. He’s already been to practice, and he’s checked into the hotel, and he has lived this day before.
He doesn’t mention that he’s also already fucked Ilya Rozanov twice and had a fucking tuna melt that Rozanov made and drank the ginger ale that Rozanov bought specifically for him. He doesn’t mention that they’d snuggled on the couch watching TV like some kind of couple, like boyfriends.
He doesn’t mention that he fell asleep thinking about how Ilya — fuck, no, thinking about how Rozanov had called him sweetheart and Shane, and that, even now, he can’t quite get the cadence of Ilya’s voice out of his head.

I love a time loop fic and this one was so sweet.Seeing Shane's regimented mind go down a checklist of option to "free himself" was wonderfully written and so in character. I also loved his leaning into the freedom being in a time loop gives him its such a fun aspect of teh fic. Overall it was a great read

The author truely honors the heaviness of the subject matter and neavigates the nuaces and complexites about the ways shane and ilya would respond to these circumstances so well. honestly I'm just awed by the care and craftsmanship of the whole story.
