So used to sleeping on his own, it’s always a pleasant change to share a bed with Gabe. Being close enough to his husband to feel his heartbeat, smell his deodorant and be warmed by his body heat is so nice as to be addictive. Curled up with his head resting on Gabe’s bare chest, William is so happy that he could get drunk off this feeling.
Seeming to share this unspoken sentiment, Gabe runs his hand through William’s greying hair, fingernails scratching gently over his skin. Humming contentedly, William opens his eyes and blinks slowly like an aging Persian cat in a sunbeam.

It didn’t take long for Link to become her constant companion, and for Zelda to start thinking of him as a friend. The first time she heard him laugh was a shock - but a good shock. All these years later, she can’t even remember what it was about, but it was real and light and came from his belly.
His voice was not something Zelda heard often, besides grunts and fighting sounds - when he did speak, it was stuttering and difficult - like the words would get stuck in his mouth and it would make his cheeks burn red. When he got more comfortable with her, he signed, and it didn’t take Zelda long to learn (when he finally agreed to teach her.)
It became like a secret language between the two of them, and for a little while there - in the prosperity of the Kingdom of Hyrule, Link was like her oasis in the desert, and her very best friend.
Then he died.
