Pearl starts her day delivering mail, stopping by Gem’s house for a minute to steal pickles and tease her brother who is fishing at Gem’s dock.
After work, Pearl is tired. Today—or September as a whole—is an unfortunate anniversary of Grian’s disappearance after the EVO End trip. The memories are stuck in her head and she’s tired.

Pearl wakes up in the middle of the night, messy, filled with more panic than her little puppy brain can manage. She runs into the woods, hiding in a scrappy stick fort, just trying her best to calm down before she can get back home and fix what she'd done.
But Cleo's voice calls out her name…
Pearl knows she's screwed.;Or, Pearl has an accident and hides in the woods as she panics. Cleo finds her and tries her best to calm her down, but Pearl's head is stuck in a flashback and convinced that they must be furious with her. Slowly, ever so slowly, Cleo manages to clean up the nightmare and get a little, self-hating puppy to sleep.
