The door flies open. Zhongli stares at him, eyes a bit wild. He hasn’t changed out of his day clothes, and the gold thread on his robes shimmer and dance with every minute movement. For a moment, they both look at each other.
Then Childe blinks. “Can I come in?” he asks, a bit helplessly, lifting a bloodstained hand as if to show it off.
Zhongli does not say anything, but he opens the door wider and steps aside.
Injured and bloody, Childe shows up at Zhongli’s doorstep after months of distance.

Summary
Explaining to a baby what he was supposed to do with all those pretty cards was pointless, but they were also (sort of?) illuminated beasts. So Childe didn’t like to underestimate his little babies(he wouldn’t have even if they were mortals), he liked to treat them as equals, without forgetting that they were little children.

"I can do better than that," Childe mutters, leaning his back on the Geo pillar, though he wouldn’t mind sliding right off of it onto the floor. For now, he just hypnotizes the marble with his gaze, knowing fine well that he sounds like a stubborn child. The worst part is that he can’t help it.
What does it say about him as a warrior that his goal tonight has nothing to do with his practice? He doesn’t need to have Zhongli’s back pinned to the ground, and the idea of seeing him bleeding even a drop makes Childe sick.
His version of a victory: those moments when Zhongli’s hands end up as close to his skin as he can get.
