    Summary

For a hair’s breadth of a second, Sam feels nothing but the reverberation of metal against bone, thrumming all the way up his leg. His mind feels strangely separate from his body, as if he’s a spectator in his own skin.

The pain starts slow: a hollow, bone-deep ache and an electrified knife-edge, the sensations mingling with Sam’s building panic. He looks down to ascertain the source, and his stomach bottoms out when he sees the dim but unmistakable glint of a bear trap around his foot.

    Oh, God.

After getting separated from Dean on a hunt, Sam steps in a bear trap. Alone in the forest, he must survive the elements, his wound, and a prowling monster while he waits for Dean to find him.

    Summary

Bobby asked Dean and Sam to take care of a vampire nest. It did not go smoothly. With Dean hurt, Sam hauls his brother to the nearest motel to patch him up and is determined to take care of him… even overlooking his own health in the process. And when neither brother is capable of taking care of the other, of course it’s Bobby to the rescue. Shameless hurt/comfort and good old fashioned sickfic.

    Summary

The pencil skitters across the table, little more than an inch.

(A phantom thrill races through Sam's blood.)

“You did it!” Sam sends Jack a grin, slightly bewildered. Kid’s a fast learner. “Great job, Jack.”

Contrary to the pride Sam expects to see on Jack’s face, there is instead confusion. “That… wasn’t me.”

“What?” Sam’s gaze slides back to the pencil, the innocuous object, close enough to touch. His heart is beating in his ears, staggered, animalistic. “Then how…?”

“You didn’t tell me you had powers too!” Jack says with an excited grin, leaning forward with his elbows on the table. The Nephilim’s childish expression is floating on the edges of Sam’s vision, distorted. Everything feels far away, unreal, dimmed by the echo of pure power running through his veins.

“I don’t—shouldn’t,” he manages to stammer out. His blood is humming just like it used to, alight with the power, and Sam thinks he might throw up. “Not anymore."

Sam’s powers resurface when he tries to train Jack, and he is forced to confront a decade of shame and self-hatred. If Jack, the son of Lucifer, is good, then maybe Lucifer’s demon blood-infested vessel can be too.

    Summary

Sam is dead. Dean isn’t processing.

And then Sam is not dead, Lucifer is there, and they’re suddenly on a deadline- thirty one hours before their single way home literally ceases to exist. Jack needs to be kept away from Lucifer, Sam needs to be kept away from Lucifer, they need to get thirty three people through a rift miles away, and that’s not even mentioning the fucking war currently being waged all over this- literally -godforsaken planet.

But Sam is alive, (alive, alive, Dean’s brother is alive), albeit having one continuous panic attack. This is fine.

    (It is so, so not.)

OR: A retelling of Supernatural’s s13 ep22 “Exodus” told from Dean’s point of view, complete with all the nice fun trauma the writers love to ignore, a bunch of cool archangel headcanons, realistic character interactions, general badassery, characters actually using their brains, logic, and common sense, and a much, much more satisfying ending.
