It was Troy Barrett who found him bloodied and bruised outside the arena. Shane Hollander, Hockey Star. Generational Talent. Captain of the Montreal Voyageurs. Beaten and battered and absolutely reeking of Distressed Omega.
He called Ilya first. No matter how badly Shane needed paramedics, he needed his alpha more. He waited through five rings before he heard “This is Ilya, I will not listen to your voicemail” and the telltale *beep* of the start of a voicemail recording.
At the sound of his alpha’s name, Hollander began mumbling, “‘lya… need Ilya.”
“I know,” Troy assured. “He’ll be here soon. Ilya’s gonna be here soon.”
Hopefully, he wasn’t lying.

He surged forward and, following his suspicions, pulled down James’s shirt collar with a determined pale hand.
Regulus glowered and pulled back. “Who did this to you?” he growled.
James was tired and confused. He just looked at his partner through squinted eyes, perplexed. “Whad’dyu mean?” he mumbled.
Regulus was furious. Not at James, obviously. But he was furious. “What I mean,” he ground out, “is who left that gash on your throat so I can slit theirs?” The words were hissed out and sharp. Regulus had a vengeance.

Summary
He’s curled up in a hospital bed, one of the wide ones, for nesting. The metal rails on either side are helping to keep the pillows and blankets in a vaguely nest shape.
It scents a lot like another Omega, somehow familiar, but not Shane. David most likely, since Shane does not look in any fit state to build a nest. But Ilya’s brain dismisses the scent of another Omega. Not a threat; doesn’t matter.
Ilya strips his shirt and ditches it in the same moment as he works his shoes off by stepping on the heels. He drops his sweatpants too. He hears Yuna growl. He really doesn’t care.

Shane is in a huge Omega Drop after leaving Ilia's hotel. Luckily, Scott and Kip found him before anything terrible happens. But they have only one way to cure him - to mark him. They are also furious about Shane's irresponsible Alpha, whoever that asshole is.
But Ilya doesn't even know Shane is an Omega. That night becomes his biggest regret.
