Russian figure skating is different from everywhere else, especially when you're training under Eteri Tutberidze and going to international competitions. Though if you manage to score some medals, you may sometimes find some joy outside of exhausting training.
Like for example: getting a lovely apartment, going on nice vacations after Worlds or being a part of shows off-season, like Fantasy on Ice.
Or you may also be able to do an amazing surprise to your dad, who is a big F1 fan - of course if one of your sponsors has their own team in Formula One and you manage to get a pass from them.Well, Amaliya Svetlanova succeeded, and didn't even know how a surprise for her dad may influence her whole life.

she laughs quietly and kisses him again, this one landing more fully. his hands tighten slightly at her waist, thumbs pressing into her sides like he’s anchoring himself there. her knees draw in, heels brushing the backs of his legs.
they pause, foreheads touching, breathing close enough that he can feel it shift when she smiles.
“we were supposed to be doing something,” she says.
“we tried,” he says.
“did we?”
he grins. “briefly.”
she shakes her head, amused, and leans down to kiss him again. it’s still gentle, still unhurried, but there’s something more settled in it now. like they’ve decided this is where they’re staying for a while.
his hand drifts up her side, thumb brushing just under her ribs. she inhales quietly at the touch, then relaxes again, fingers sliding into his hair. she doesn’t tug. just rests her hand there, like she likes knowing it’s his.
they break apart only because they’re both smiling too much to keep kissing straight.

he’s up before she finishes the sentence. crosses the room in two steps, shoving the window open the rest of the way and leaning out–and there she is.

In the depths of a forest long forgotten and deemed enchanted, a witch hides from sight, from life and from time itself. Annabeth aids creatures in need and, on a fated afternoon, she invited inside her cottage a campire; a long-dead creature with just an echo of life and a cry for help on his lips.
It is quite alright. Simply another creature to be nursed, to be helped, to be sent away; just another day from which she would move on.
But old hearts and old times might just recognize each other, and curiosity is forever the reason why the world evolves.
Two lifeless creatures, in the end, perhaps shall learn what becomes of lives eternal.

Again, in hindsight, he probably shouldn’t have tried to block a gods-damned spear with his bare hands. Because, surprisingly, the spear would, like, 99.9% pierce through his armor and then his very vulnerable skin into his equally vulnerable flesh if he tried to do that. So, yeah. Definitely the stupidest one on the long list of Stupid Things Percy Had Ever Done.
But then again, at least it didn’t run through his girlfriend, which should really be considered a win.Or: Percy lets his fatal flaw get the best of him again. Annabeth is not thrilled.
