First, they just try to fight the loneliness together. And then they sort of fall in love.
AKA a Trinity Santos character study told in little vignettes.

“I don’t need a fucking script, Huckleberry!” Trinity says, furious. “I can ask a girl out, jesus.”
“I mean, that’s weird,” Whitaker says. “Because you haven’t. Like, that’s what this entire conversation is about.”

Summary
Trinity can feel the stolen scalpel burning a hole in her pocket. Fuck it. “Wanna get a drink?”
Hope flickers in her chest and it must show on her face because Mel falters. Trinity kicks herself. Last thing she needs is pity from Miss Ren Fucking Faire. She squares her shoulders.
“Look, Melon, if you need to get home, feed your fish or whatever, I get it. Don’t let me stop you.”
Mel’s brow furrows in confusion. “I don't own any fish,” she says. “Actually, Becca won one at a carnival once when we were kids but, funny story-”
Santos interrupts. “What I mean, Mellow Yellow, is you don’t have to humor me. I’m a big girl. You can tell me to kick rocks.”
“Oh.” Mel frowns. “You have a very strange way of communicating.”
Trinity and Mel hang out after the Fourth of July shift. It’s all downhill from there.

I have created a version of Trinity that is so piteous, I want to punch myself in the head.

Summary
“I don’t really like being called Melatonin. It feels very impersonal, and seems to imply that I’m tired or need to sleep, which I don’t, and when I do, I don’t really need the reminder. It’s also longer than my name, so it doesn’t make much sense as a nickname.”
Trinity straightened up, a little unsure of what to do. A tinge of hurt burned in her chest at Mel not liking the nickname, but … there was also something kind of hot about her finally standing up for herself?
