“Jonah Magnus.” The cloudy silhouette snarled as it’s hand clamped tightly around Jonah's ascot. That was indeed his name, but Jonah couldn’t begin to fathom what he did to have it spat out with such hatred.
But nonetheless, Jonah was a gentleman and he would kindly address the angry figure as politely as possible, “Yes, and you are?”
“What?” The form spluttered as it slowly came into focus. Ah, yes. That probably wasn’t the proper response to being held at gunpoint by a random stranger. Must have been the blow to his head.

“I only say this as your best friend,” Elias straightens back up and winds another lock of Jon’s hair around the iron, “but you could do so much better.”
“Right,” Jon says, deadpan. “Because everyone is just lining up to date Jonathan Sims, head of the newspaper club whose extra curricular activities consist mainly of extra credit.”

Summary
Elias sides open his closet door and looks inside, a quick look back at Jon as if to appraise him for size again, and then selects something from the very back with a small nod.
“These were a gift from… an old friend,” Elias says, looking down at the pieces he’s selected before holding them out to Jon to examine. There’s a little amused smile on his face, like this is a joke that Jon is not in on, and Jon is grateful to have the pieces of clothing to hold so that he can hide himself behind them and not think about how intensely out of place he feels.

So for a night, he was Jonny d'Ville, First Mate of the Aurora. For a night, he was Jonny. Jonathan. Jon. And, the next morning, out to breakfast with Georgie, he asked her to keep calling him that.
