A tempting offer, is it not?” the stranger almost drawled mischievously, a taunting smile on his lips.

Summary
Shadow the Hedgehog lost the sole reason he could love this world. The painful death of the hero created a terrible future and caused the world to fall under the control of the Eggman Empire, led by Neo Sage, an ultimate AI created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik.
After that, Shadow and Silver teamed up to fix the future, until finally Shadow the Hedgehog died and regressed back to the past. Shadow’s vow is to prevent the death of the blue hedgehog. Can he do it?
Or maybe destiny is playing a toy with him, making him realize some feeling that he thought he never felt it towards Sonic.

Maybe Shadow could have gotten past the fact that they both had nearly the exact same colour of hair, or their eyes were the same blinding blue. That they were both geniuses, despite being so young. That sometimes when the boy spoke in that stupid, annoying, raspy voice of his, the Ultimate Lifeform's ears toyed with it, retuning it until it reached his brain as the voice of a slightly older human girl who had that same kind of rasp on bad days.
But why, why on Earth, did Miles Prower have to act just like his sister?

Six months after the Eclipse Cannon explosion, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are enjoying life on Earth together. Until a taller, slightly less grumpy ebony hedgehog they thought was dead comes out of nowhere. Claiming he’s from another dimension. His proof? The fact he showed up in their backyard with an injured, older version of Sonic.
Feat. Sonic struggling with the fact Shadow might be alive, Knuckles being overprotective and Tails trying his best
This story was written by someone who grew up loving Sonic Underground, loved the Movies then proceeded to write this based on my own franken-canon because why not?
Please note: The alternate versions of Sonic and Shadow are both roughly 30 years old in this fic and they’re based off of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Prime

The muffled sound of a phone ringing cuts Rouge's lament off. She huffs, feigning irritation at the offending noise, but looks at Shadow expectantly. Shadow grumbles, pulling the phone out of his quills and pressing answer, not bothering to look at the caller ID. Anyone calling him during working hours is very aware of the risks.
"You've reached Shadow," the dark hedgehog drones unenthusiastically. He hears some shuffling on the other side, followed by some deep breaths, then,
"Shadow-?" Tails' meek voice drifts through his speaker, almost too soft to catch. Shadow's previous annoyance disappears instantly as he recognises the kit's voice.

The rhythm is a lot slower now; he used to remember how fast it would beat back when they were younger.
…It’s hard, sometimes. To accept the cruel truth. That Sonic is getting older, while he remains in this unchanging, youthful body. As if a hundred years haven’t passed since they first met.
It’s times like these that he feels like being the Ultimate Lifeform is nothing more than a curse.
