Summary
It's the year 1890. Kiara Carrera is uprooted from her life in America by her parents and forced to move to England after wreaking havoc as a protester and activist. Still living a wealthy life, Kiara is determined to use her privilege for good by finding ways to sneak into town. There, she teaches children and helps serve meals to the less fortunate. When coming back from one of her excursions a couple of days before Christmas, she stumbles upon a man by the name of Rafe Cameron in the woods. He was robbed of his horse and needs help getting to her home because he has business to discuss with her father. When Rafe is asked to stay and celebrate the holidays with Kiara and her family, feelings blossom between them (much to Kiara’s chagrin). In the dead of night on Christmas Eve, Kiara learns Rafe’s true intentions and who, or what, he really is.

His gaze shifts from the bedside table to the unknown woman beside him. He’s about to shake her awake and demand some answers when she shifts, stretching, and a soft, content noise escapes her throat as she arches her back. Long hair falls across her cheeks, obscuring her from view, and then Kiara Carrera’s sleepy, smiling face appears as the curls shift beneath her hand. Rafe is transfixed in fascination and mild horror at the sight of her.
“Morning,” she says, arching her body once more in a stretch as she settles her head deeper into the pillow.
He stares at her.
“Hey – you okay?” Her voice is hesitant. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

After sending most of the villains to prison, the Titans were allowed a great period of calm. It was during this same period of calm that Robin realized he loved Raven as more than a best friend. He cherished and looked forward to all the moments he could spend alone with her without Starfire's incessant questions and Cyborg and Beast Boy's arguments.
There was one small problem though, he couldn't find the courage to confess his feelings to her.
