“Everything is different,” Shane says, and there’s a telltale tightness building in his chest.

“It does not have to be,” Ilya says, in a rush, like he hasn’t spent an entire day making everything different.

When the long game falls apart, Shane and Ilya need a new plan.

I recommend reading the series in order it was posted, even though the second fic is a prequel to the first one.

“What happened?” Ilya asked, stepping closer, brows pulling together.

Shane looked up, still processing, eyes wide in a way Ilya had never seen before.

“I’ve been traded,” he said, the words landing heavy between them. “It’s done.”

    Summary

“Marley.” Ilya says evenly, suddenly knowing he can actually breathe. He had a plan and he knew what he needed to do. And he couldn’t do it from the locker room bench. “If he is very injured, if he cannot play again, if he is very bad, I will kill you. I will kill you painfully.”
    Cliff gapes at him.

In which the hit that Cliff Marleau had on Shane Hollander goes a little different. For one, they’re in Boston. For another, Ilya realizes he might be panicking? Which is probably not something to do in the middle of a game. And, oh yeah, he just outed both himself and his not-boyfriend to an entire locker room of hockey players.

But that’s okay, because while Boston may be vicious, they do take care of their own. And they quickly realize that their captain’s happiness and willingness to stay with the Bears is tied to Shane Hollander. The solution is easy, they’ll just have to make Shane Hollander a Bear.

    Summary

"After an hour of breathing exercises, retracing what he had learned about himself and others, he opened his Notes app:

    want:
    Ilya
    Stanley Cups
    Awards

    not doing:
    Dissociating
Making myself small to make others comfortable
    Waiting ten fucking years

Watching the clock, the time he had been waiting for was finally there.

Time to remind Ilya where the smoking area was."

    Or

In 2021, Shane and Ilya are sent back to 2008. And they are determined to do it better this time.
