Someone is causing them, and leaving these marks behind, and, somehow, they’re getting away with it.” He straightens as much as he can, hands curling into fists. “Those that are guilty cannot be allowed to walk free. I will not let that stand.”
The Director regards him impassively, hands steepled together in front of his face.
“An interesting observation, Mr. Edgeworth,” he says, eventually. He lets out an exhale, then pushes himself up in his chair. “Though quite a lot for only one person to handle on their own, surely.” He cocks his head, and offers Miles the barest hint of a smile, eyes sharp. “Why don’t we pair you with someone that can help split the work?”
He, as Miles already suspects, is not talking about Detective Gumshoe.

“Places in thirty, thank you,” Lyney says easily, giving the manager a smile. Lynette nods, which is essentially her way of doing the same. Freminet squeezes his hands around the chair he’s sitting on, neck burning.
He can feel the stage manager’s worry for him, though he isn’t looking at her. And he understands it.
But he’d said he wanted to do this. And he does, really. His nerves have just been quite…persistent.

He isn’t entirely sure why he asks. Everyone at the House already knows the answer, even if it remains largely undiscussed.
Father doesn’t respond immediately.
“He no longer wishes to be with us,” she says, eventually. “I am going to do what needs to be done.”

Summary
Safety, as Lyney has come to understand it, is a bit of a strange thing.
In all his earliest memories, of days spent without food, nights spent against street corners, and having nothing to his name but the feeling of his sister’s hand around his, ‘safe’ had been a feeling whose definition had needed to be constantly changed if he’d wanted to have any hopes of actually experiencing it.
Of course, no meaning had ever lasted very long. As is the nature of what had always, ultimately, been a lie.
Perhaps this is what is currently giving him so much trouble.
Because Lyney is currently, for all intents and purposes, safe. Logically, he knows this. He knows this.
And yet…and yet.
Or,
In which time heals all wounds, but Lyney's cut over a decade deep.
Though this, like many things, is perhaps not quite as impassable as it would seem.

GOD ah this one is so good even if the author only put like 2 tags so it's impossible to find ;; i only came across it back in my days of looking through every single fic in the fe3h tag in reverse chronological order (yes, really) but kajhsfkjahgdshgudhg this is so good. everything you could want from a 'character gets turned into an animal and everyone else thinks they're dead' fic. the progression of sylvain's mental state, the outside pov of the obvious grief but him not being able to recognize it,,, i think about this fic all the time, btw. it's been years and i still do

Summary
Your standard Reverse Robins au with Dick Grayson as a Talon. In this universe, Jason was brought in to the Court of Owls to fight to the death with a Talonized Dick, for no real purpose other than to be a spectacle. They instead spared each other’s life, and the Court responded to this by purposefully triggering severe codependency between the two of them in order to best control them both. Years later, drug lord Jason, under the alias of Robin, comes into contact with Tim and Damian. This is everything that occurs before, during, and after.
