The gunshot was loud enough to split the night into two, to split his heart into two.
Kazuha takes a bullet for Heiji, and he loses all his strength, collapsing with her. It's up to Shinichi, Shiho, and Ran to hold him together until the ambulance arrives, and until they are all safe and sound.
