Grace pops her head up, pulling the phone away from her ear to check the caller ID. “Shit, sorry Faith, I didn’t know it was you calling.”
“Yeah, no duh. You sound like an angry soccer mom.” Grace’s sister pitches her voice up high, mocking. “Do you know who I am? How dare you talk to me like that! Let me speak to your manager!”

Summary
In April of 1999, Julia Cody gets pregnant with Baz Blackwell’s child. A furious Smurf takes the opportunity to legally tie Baz to her family, through marriage. Neither Baz’s long term girlfriend, nor Julia’s brother, are particularly happy about this arrangement. They decided to get hitched in an impulsive decision actually that pays off, in a ‘True Love’ sort of way.
Lena comes along two months after her cousin is born, and is raised by adoring parents: semi-functional adults who are trying to have a healthier relationship than any of their role-models. Smurf is decidedly not helpful.
OR: The span of Lena’s life as Cath and Pope’s kid, primarily in the timeline of the later flashbacks and S1-S6.

AU where Smurf made Baz and Julia get married when she got pregnant with J.
This makes Cath choose Pope, and promptly get pregnant with Lena, making her the same age as Josh.Basically just non linear prompts I couldn’t get out of my head. I started with the murder, and had to write everything else to make that make sense!

“Frank Langdon, are you cheating on your wife with the new R2?” Robby asked him bluntly, not even trying to disguise the disappointment in his eyes.
Then Frank did the absolute last thing he should have done. He burst into laughter.
“Is this funny to you?” Robby almost growled, “you have a wife and kids at home! A wife who delayed medical school to have your kids and you go and cheat on her with someone you knew from medical school? That’s fucked up, man.”
Frank stood ramrod straight and shook his head furiously. “No, no, no!” he protested. “That is one hundred percent not what is happening. Mel is my wife. My only wife,” he clarified unnecessarily.
Robby’s anger simmered, his eyes now furrowed in confusion. “I thought your wife’s name was Abby?”
Frank’s face filled with horror. His face turning pale. It was then he realised that he’d fucked up. He fucked up so bad. Like a generationally bad fuck up.
__AKA the one where a family inside joke leads to the entire Pitt Crew thinking that Frank is cheating on his wife with, well…his actual wife.

“Yes.” The Attorney confirms, digging through his leather briefcase. “It took some time for things to get settled what with the wedding and the subsequent funerals and all, but the estate is finally ready for you to take the reins.”
“The estate? What estate? I abdicated the high seat.”
“Yes, well… like I said, these are entirely mundane legal proceedings. This has nothing to do with Mr. Le Bail or the High Council.” He hands Grace a packet of paper, waiting for her to scan over it before continuing. “Even in the absence of Mr. Le Bail’s favor, the Danforth family fortune is considerably immense, especially for a woman of your…” The Attorney trails off, eyeing Grace and Faith’s depressing poor people apartment. “Economic circumstances.”
“Wait,” Grace sputters, flipping through the paperwork. “I don’t get it. Why would I inherent the Danforth family fortune?”
“Well, you are the last remaining Danforth.” The attorney explains simply. As though it’s so simple.
