“Maybe you should rest,” Jay insisted, spreading her hands. For a moment it looked like she was reaching out to him again and Gillion flinched. He curled up his top lip in a noncommitted snarl and Jay dropped her hands, furrowing her eyebrows with worry.

There was a sky above him. An actual fucking sky. It was a slight bit unnerving to look up and know that if gravity switched up all of a sudden he'd be falling into that cloudy blue forever, but he couldn't help but be in awe of it. The fear was drowned out by some childish sense of wonder, gazing up into infinity.
And there were people. He couldn't see them from here, but he could hear them. Lots of them. Definitely more than he'd ever been in a room with at once. There were more noises mixed in with that, engines and doors and footsteps. It was quiet from the alleyway but still enough to be overwhelming.

But before he could have investigated further, Gillion had dragged him into the water, a webbed hand wrapped around Chip’s larger hand. Gillion flicked his tail above the surface, using it to splash Chip as he swam a few paces away.
“Hey!” Chip exclaimed, pushing a small wave towards Gillion in retaliation. Gillion laughed, rolling onto his back and diving under the water. His tail once again came up to splash Chip who spat out a mouthful of saltwater and wiped his face. Chip snorted and stared down at the ocean where he could see Gillion swimming just under the surface.

Troy stopped and looked down at her, something she knew was probably just because of the height difference, but still, it irked her.

Slime had held up fine, at first. He was the most human of the lot really - everyone just assumed he was human other than a select few who had been around as long as him. (People like Foolish, Bad and Phil, as some examples). The slime had spent so long pretending to be human that it was as easy as breathing to keep himself whole and ‘person-like’.
