Summary
He is just Kai's friend's betrothed. One that never really notices Kai. But Kai on the other hand is in love with him. It is never going to work out anyway. A working-class mute boy won't stand a chance with the straight, rich heartthrob. Kai can't speak or hear so how is he supposed to tell Sehun of his feelings for him? Even if he manages to do so, he knows that Sehun is not attracted to men, although he appears to be feminine at times which makes Kai laugh now and then. But that is because he is rich and well-attended. Every single day of his life in the small village, Kai watches and admires Sehun from far but never musters the courage to approach him. Even if Sehun would talk to him once, Kai might just die out of happiness. The thing is... Kai couldn't really hear his voice which would be a far worse scenario for him to take in. But even so. He wants Sehun to notice him and him alone. That is not something possible and he knows that very well.
The only thing Kai could do is write hundreds of letters that he could never give Sehun. Kai wants to tell Sehun that he loves him.

but in all seriousness, i think it’s the only way sekai could have ended up together. I don’t think they would have wanted to live in a world where the other no longer is.
AND FUDGEEE. The world is so cruel to poor sweet dear Kai. I wanna shower him with love and hugs that he deserves and thank the heavens that Sehun gives him that joy and love.
This was so sad and heartbreaking but also got me so emotionally hooked.
I like to think that they met again in another life, and had the good life they deserve, together.
This author has done it once again, touched my heart and left a hole in my soul for it will forever stay with this fic

Honestly... this fic is the definition of slow burn. IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE.
And i'm not just talking about the romance.. I'm talking about Sehun's (and the gang's) character development.
There's something about it that intrigues you in the beginning but it slowly creeps into your heart and settles itself there like it's always belonged.
And the Sekai unrequited pining??? DELICIOUS. But Chanyeol being jealous of it? PERFECTION.
Sehun is finally home, where he belongs.
Also there was a point that I thought this would be a horror fiction hahahah

I HAVE READ THIS PASSAGE OVER TEN TIMES NOW AND IS TILL BAWL MY EYES OUT EVERYTIME.
It is a comfort that Kai and Sehun will always find their way back to each other.
Kai and Sehun had both made their fair share of mistakes but there is something so beautiful about learning to forgive and growing together.
Let that be a lesson in love for us all.
Once again, truly Hyperionova has done it again.

Probably one of the softest sekai fics ive ever read. If things ever get heavy, this is such a good read.
And honestly the way it tells Jongin’s story from beginning is just so well laid out.
But really i just smiled till the end bc nothing really has changed. Jongin and Sehun are still best friends more than anything. Just this time they acknowledge that they love each other as more than friends.
Oblivious pining!! Mostly on Sehun’s part maybe?

okay ngl i found this again after maybe 9/10 years???????
But the grip it has on my heart, DAMN
THE LOVE TRIANGLE BETWEEN KAI SEHUN JO GIN IS JUST SO PAINFULLY GOOD UGH
Sometimes I look at Jongin and I wonder.. why? But we can’t choose who we fall in love with.
And then there’s Kai. Kai who, despite his rugged nature, is actually the only one who has done mostly nothing wrong but to love Sehun devotedly.
And Sehun. Sehun who deserved to be loved from the very beginning. I’m glad you finally found that someone to save you.
Everyone is so beautiful.
Ps. That scene where Sehun was willing to let Kai kill him just to end his misery only for Kai to say ‘do it yourself’. And Sehun was about to until Kai stopped him. FUDGE. Broke my heart a thousand times that tears actually fell from BOTH eyes.
Pps. Will forever remember the quote Kai says to Sehun.
“ Sehun... with you around me I will always find my way home, for when fear sets my compass spinning, it matters not which direction I take, only that I keep on walking."
Tattoo this into my forehead I don’t care. I was so emotionally invested in this, I still think about it 10 years later and may I think about it for many more.
