This was directly inspired by Lilith_Wilde's work, Father of the Son (specifically referencing events from Chapter 34). Please read that story as well, it is so incredibly well done!

These newfound passions helped heal her invisible wounds, but can she ever truly move on from her first love? After a reunion 500 years in the making, Kagome must decide if she's ready to accept her second chance with InuYasha, and surrender to the strings of fate that seem determined to bind them. But when a new foe emerges hellbent on stopping a prophecy from reaching fulfillment, will they get the happiness they've craved for so long?

This is technically a flashback oneshot adjacent to my story, Sword Play, but can be read independently too. I've been meaning to write this particular story for a while but was inspired to finally draft it for InuKag Week 2025 and the prompt Blood.
