“Sshhh, it’s all right,” Shane tells him, “Just breathe, okay? Just breathe for me, baby. We can talk when you’re ready.”
Ilya’s breath hitches. Then his sobs increase and Shane tightens his arms around him. Ilya’s fingers curl into the fabric of Shane’s shirt, and Shane rocks him gently back and forth.
“I’ve got you,” Shane whispers, repeating the words again and again and again. He presses a kiss to Ilya’s hair, to his brow, to any part that he can reach. And he doesn’t let go. He never, ever lets go.
Set during "The Long Game" when Shane drives away the morning after Ilya’s Halloween party, and Ilya breaks down crying.
What if Shane comes back? What if he finds Ilya? How might this one revelation change the course of events?
