Summary
Shane Hollander’s parents insisted on him getting his bachelor’s degree before going to play in the MLH. He is now only months away from graduation and will begin pre-season training with the Voyagers in the summer. Shane is on top of the world. There is only one problem, he is missing an art elective.
Ilya Rozanov detests most of the students who take his courses. They come through his ceramics studio excepting to make a few pinch pots, fuck around, and get a checkmark next to their arts requirement. When Shane arrives in his office with a University of Boston Athletics branded backpack, Ilya’s mind is all but made up about the star hockey player. However, as the semester progresses, Ilya begins to think he may have been too quick to judge.

Summary
In late 2012 when Shane has a meltdown and frantically tells them to call Lily, for the first time Yuna’s ever witnessed, Shane is coaxed out of one of them instead of just suffering through until the exhaustion wins out instead—and all by some mysterious, apparently very well attuned to Shane, 'Lily'.
She hadn’t meant to see the number before she’d pressed it and fumbled the phone up to Shane’s ear. It was simply a byproduct of the situation, something Shane had asked for her to do.
…Memorizing it and then texting that number to thank Lily for their help was not something she’d been asked to do. But she worries so much about Shane, and Lily is a reassurance. Not a pry for details but the simple, verifiable confirmation: he’s okay.
Lily, on the other hand, very much enjoys being able to make oddly specific 'your mother' jokes to Shane much more often now. (And maybe the whole family piece of it, too.)

Summary
Ilya knows firsthand that the world isn’t comfortable. It’s loud, bright, demanding, a harsh place in direct opposition to everything he’s recently learned about autism.
Is it so wrong that he wants Shane to feel safe here? To carve out a space where, even if only for a few hours, he doesn’t have to grin and bear anything? He can just be?
Or: Ilya Rozanov has a lot of good ideas. Telling his fuck buddy that he should consider getting an autism diagnosis isn’t one of them.
