Summary
Tim Drake always knew his time as a Bat was going to be short-lived. All the Wayne brothers had made it clear how unwelcome he was. And Tim had enough self-respect to leave where he wasn't wanted. Besides, if he stayed, he was eventually going to be killed by one of them. So after he completed his mission as Red Robin by rescuing Bruce from the time stream, he left Gotham behind.
But when an old ally calls in a favor, he returns to the city he once called his home. While running into the Bats was necessary for mission success, being forced to spend time with his former teammates is not. And yet the more Tim does, the more he realizes they've changed. It seems as though they regretted their actions and want him back in the family.
And now they have him back in their grasp, they won't let him go again - no matter what.

Dick rolled his head back again, biting back a laugh as he saw the exact expression of amused glee on Jason’s face that was probably on his own.
“Be safe,” Dick whispered to Jason.
“I’ll be so safe,” Jason immediately replied, putting emphasis into his whisper that spoke of his stage presence.
“Guys,” Bruce started.
“I’ll be safe for you,” Dick said, ignoring his father and fluttering his eyes at Jason.
