I was so very reluctant to begin this fic, as the thought of Ilya rejecting Shane in Tampa, paired with Shane falling in love with and marrying someone else, was just horrendously bad. Felt like a giant ball of terribleness settling in my gut. I kept it open in a Chrome tab that I kept passing over for several months, opting instead for the AU Hayden reveal fics that were guaranteed to entertain.
I finally took a deep breath this morning and began to read. Ilya's rejection in Tampa was so hard to get through that I had to skim it - something I NEVER do - but it was just too much. Maybe I'll go back later and find out what they actually said, but that will not be happening today. Because today is a day for good sobbing. For tears running unchecked down my face, as my husband of 25 years glances over at me, with who knows what expression on his face, as I will not be looking up anytime soon. It's a day to read, reread, and screenshot for future rereads. It's a day to write the longest reaction I've ever written to a fic, by far.
The joy of yes, Yes, YES!! And then the vows. Asshole. Suicide. Love for 20 years. Gordie with the ring. That was it. That was everything.

Summary
