Jay apparently has to think about this, which likely means that yes, it's working. "It's... not not working?"
Zane sighs and switches his view program back to the medical screen so he can get back to work on Jay's broken leg. The sooner they finish here, the sooner Jay can heal and they can go up and spend some much-needed down time with the others.
Jay scoffs. "What? It looks like it hurts. It's messing with my brain."
"Then I suggest you don't look."

The broadcast cut across every screen in Ninjago City, television sets in shop windows, neon billboards, even the static hum of radios crackling in taxis. The words rolled heavy and cold:
“Effective immediately, elemental powers are hereby forbidden within the bounds of Ninjago. All elemental masters will be required to wear Vengestone suppression cuffs in public spaces, for the protection of our citizens.”
The announcement spread like wildfire, each repetition driving the message deeper into the air. The governor’s face was steady, composed, but his words carried a sharp finality that left no room for negotiation.
The ninja weren't watching it from the comfort of the monastery. They were still shaken, still trying to piece together what had just happened.
Hours earlier.What should have been a simple robbery had turned into a nightmare.

Every team has a weak link, he supposed. The wind whipped around him, howling and screaming with an eerie dissonance. He felt a frigid shiver roll down his spine. He sucked in a breath, holding back salty, unshed tears. He closed his eyes. Inhaling. Easier to blame the wind than to face the truth. With that exhale came a final thought.
“It's better this way.”

No matter how hard he tries, he is never enough to protect others. He’s never serious. He arrives too late. He can’t control his powers enough to protect the ones he loves. He’s always been the weak link.
Wojira is rising.
As the ninja race to stop Wojira, everyone on the team must step up. Otherwise, Ninjago will fall. Jay holds his family close to his heart. Just like his lightning. Maybe it’s time for him to finally let go.
(A Seabound rewrite but I switched Jay and Nya because I need more Jay angst in life.)

Only the First Spinjitzu Master knows how much those two lovestruck-idiots will test their best friends' patience with their flowered rivalry.
