Zagreus knows, from centuries spent around Hypnos to varying degrees, that the guy sometimes just gets like that. A little spacey, a little airy, a little impermanent and intangible like a- well, like a dream. Something wispy and immaterial, somehow physically present and yet not here at all.

It’s strange. Only now, confronted with the very thing he came down here to find, is reality enforcing itself upon Bdubs.
This is impossible. Maybe the blackbox of Etho’s AI could be retrieved, but at a depth of 36,000 feet his netherite-fibered body would have lasted six seconds at most before his lovely face pulverized. Whatever’s left might as well be a husk of radiation. He is not outside the submersible. No one is.
And still. A knock on the door. One-two-three. Polite and patient.
(At the bottom of the ocean, Bdubs studies microbes with the help of the CONCORP android Etho. They are not alone.)

The TV is unplugged. Skizz and Tango look at each other. Bdubs looks at Etho.
Skizz walks over. His padding footsteps seem too loud. The TV hums to life, lighting up the room in eerie underwater blues. Bdubs thinks he must still be half asleep. He can almost feel the currents beneath his feet.
“Was that all?” Tango’s voice is groggy. “Why’d you wake us up for that?”
Achingly good read. Intense, terrifying, mysterious. Amazing prose!!

Such a fun read, great balance between mystery and satisfaction- couldn’t put it down. Was recognizing new characters from dialogue alone, really impressive attention to detail
