I took four tests. I’m pregnant.” Shane said without a smile on his face. There was no laughter between his words. Hayden fell silent for a minute staring wide-eyed at Shane like he had seen a ghost.

Ilya told Marleau and Troy face to face, and made a funny joke about just showing up to camp and acting like everyone had always known, because just telling his best friends had given him so much anxiety he'd nearly been sick.
Except Shane hadn't thought it was a funny joke. Shane thought it was a GREAT plan. It probably needed a dry run at the Kingfisher first.

Because Hayden could see it, within seconds, the way his face closed off, went blank, like he knew exactly what was happening because he’d been dreading it for so long.
