If anyone asked how many times this has happened, where Wheeljack said something affectionate to him and in return he just stood there awkwardly, giving non-answers like a hum or a nod, he wouldn't have an answer. Because he lost count.
It's completely new to him, to be with someone so openly loving like Wheeljack. Well, he didn't have many experiences with relationships of this nature in the first place. He had far more pressing matters to worry about like getting his medical license and whatnot. But the bots he's had company were more alike to him, reserved and quiet and definitely not as sickeningly sweet as his significant other.
Or Ratchet feels a little guilty for not reciprocating Wheeljack's intensity of affection.
