Summary
Kageyama makes an incredulous noise, a sort of tch! in the back of his throat, but doesn’t retort. After a few moments, he says, “You are better at communication than me.”
Kei’s known him long enough to know what this means. “So is Natsu,” he responds exasperatedly. “That doesn’t mean she’d be a better vice captain than you.” He tilts his head to the side consideringly. “Although…”
Kageyama shoves him again, but he’s smiling now, which Kei was counting on. Kageyama’s always had a soft spot for Natsu—Kei thinks it’s because she’s like Hinata but with less qualities that make you want to kick something.
“Thanks,” Kageyama says after a few moments. His voice is gruff, but he meets Kei’s eyes again, and they’re so much softer that Kei forgets how to breathe for a moment.
or: 5 times Tsukishima and Kageyama repressed thoughts about each other's eyes, and 1 time they didn't.

Summary
Kageyama got hot over the summer, okay.
Kageyama somehow got the school's attention with how hot he had gotten, okay.
Tsukishima apparently feels heavy with his heart in his chest, like something unbearable is in his chest, akin to a fucking dirty laundry on top of his heart, when he sees Kageyama getting confessed to--not okay.
Definitely not okay.
Or, Kageyama got stupid hot and buff over the summer, and Tsukishima doesn't know how to act.

Summary
Oikawa Tōru exists only to make Tobio's life tumultuous. He absolutely believes this to be a rule imparted by the universe at large, as a punishment for some misdeed it believes he perpetrated.
It is the only explanation that brings Tōru to his doorstep a week from his meeting with Hajime, glaring down at Tobio through the long slope of his nose. He lifts a finger to tap against Tobio's chest, a rough little push he can feel through the fabric of his sweatshirt—he made sure of it, today, that it was his own—and it feels like a pinprick against his heart. Lilac sunlight struggles in through the smog late this evening just to brush highlights into Tōru's hair, all the way down to the wisps that curl around the shell of his ears.
“You're the worst,” Tōru says, his voice quivers and it extends down the length of his arm, a residual tremor from the accident Hajime explains to him. “What kind of person doesn't visit his boyfriend in the hospital.”
The accusation feels like a stab.
It's been a little over a year since Tōru left Tobio for, presumably, the last time. But fate has other things in store for them.

Summary
He’s not sure how they ended up at the same university, either. By all rights, they should have ended up in totally different universities, possibly at opposite ends of the country. But Kageyama had been scouted and he’d been offered a place and it was a very good university, and neither of them hated the other quite enough to turn a place here down because the other was going.
They hadn’t factored in sitting half-naked leant against each other and trying not to sweat too much under the overheated lights.
No one would ever think to factor that in. Kei will forgive himself for not thinking this would happen, and planning for it accordingly.
