Summary
“Eddie,” he says, breathless. “I don’t want you to go.”
Eddie’s losing it a bit. He can’t talk round in circles anymore, and he’s running out of ways to even attempt to get into Buck’s head that he’s not a burden and Eddie is exactly where he wants to be.
“Buck,” he tries, taking note of Buck’s equally drenched clothing, the raindrops that cling to his eyelashes and the curls that lay flat against his forehead. He looks perfect, even now, and it’s shaking something in Eddie loose – something that’s sat rigid and unmoving along his spine - keeping him in line, keeping him sensible, keeping him rational and far, far away from doing the very kind of thing he’s about to do right now.
or: buck and eddie have a tiny little argument, and a tiny little kiss in the rain.

Summary
Buck makes Eddie feel hopeful. He makes him forget himself. He makes him think that there’s a slither of possibility in which Eddie can give everything, can hand over every part of himself in exchange for every part of Buck. It’s a dizzying experience, to doubt yourself so completely and then with a flash of Buck’s smile, want to try, try to throw caution to the wind because Buck would make it so good, easier than anything has ever been before.

Summary
He looks back at Eddie and Eddie blinks at him like he knows. “What the hell? Fine,” Buck says, throwing a hand into the air and letting it fall to slap against his thigh. “Family trip to Hershey.”
Chris cheers and Eddie grins, like he’s won and hasn’t just signed up to carry boxes around and watch two people he barely knows and probably won’t be particularly welcoming, argue over furniture. He leans in to pepper kisses on Buck’s face, ending with an audible mwah to Buck’s birthmark.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Eddie. This isn’t going to be fun.”
or, old wounds are reopened as buck, eddie and christopher travel to hershey to help pack up buck's childhood home.

Summary
Buck kisses Eddie once more before flopping back onto his side of the bed; breathless and deliriously happy. He grins lazily in Eddie’s direction - who currently has his arm thrown over his face, blush creeping down his chest and lips bitten red by Buck’s own. He grabs at Eddie’s left hand, helplessly in love and desperate for as many points of contact as possible. His grin widens when he catches sight of the brand new band of gold on Eddie’s ring finger.
Buck traces it with his pointer finger, spinning Eddie’s hand in his so he can admire it from all angles.

Summary
"You’re late,” Chris says, pulling the door closed behind him.
“Sorry, bud,” Eddie mumbles.
He feels Christopher’s head snap toward him. God, that boy has always been too observant for his own good.
“What is it?” he says immediately and Eddie can recognise the panic in his son’s voice. The apple really doesn’t fall very far.
Eddie hesitates. He messes around with his seatbelt, pulling it away from him and letting it snap back against his chest.

Summary
“Eddie, I’m fine,” Buck replies.
Man, how many times has he echoed that sentiment in the past weeks. He knows it’s not true, and Eddie knows it’s not true, but he’s yet to push Buck on it. He just keeps showing up, letting Buck lie to him and then scheduling the same ridiculous do-over next week.
He hears Eddie sigh, dropping his cutlery against the table. He pushes up out of his seat, carrying the abandoned food into the kitchen, huffing as he goes.
Is tonight the night, Buck wonders. Are they finally gonna have the argument that has been festering under their every interaction, bleeding into the clipped tone that Buck has started to use every time Eddie so much as asks him a question.
------Eddie forces Buck to confront the trauma of his kidnapping, and perhaps the grief he has had buried since a long time before New Mexico.

Summary
“You ready to call it?” Buck asks finally, after admitting to Eddie that this kind of fun was what he needed and Nashville was not all that bad.
He gets up from his bar stool, hand on his ridiculous cowboy hat so it doesn’t fall off with his movements. He looks down at Eddie, also wearing a cowboy hat but pulling it off far better than Buck probably is.
Eddie is still sitting. He looks up at Buck, and his face is, for once, kind of unreadable. Buck is usually fluent in Eddie Diaz but right now his purposeful stare and quirk of his lips is not registering with Buck.
----1x12 coda, Dixie was never at the bar, and Buck and Eddie go back to Buck's hotel room.

“Buck is very important to you, isn’t he?” she says, tone neutral and level.
“Yeah, he’s my best friend.” Eddie answers immediately.
“Right, of course,” she nods. “But do you ever think that maybe there’s something there between the two of you?”
Eddie feels momentarily dizzy at the implication and he digs his nails into his palms, staring straight ahead.
