Summary
Gren hadn't really planned on introducing Corvus to his family, but when the Standing Battalion is dispatched to do inspections of Katolis' outer territories, Amaya insisted her tracker come along. Riding into Westridge Mark has never been more frustrating, between his parents' dismissal of his duties and his anxiety over keeping aloof, alpha-shy Corvus safe in the new place, Gren's nearly forgotten he can lean on his elder brother for help.
Corvus isn't quite sure what to make of Westridge Mark. First impressions of the Marquis and Marquess are poor, but Commander Gren's elder brother at least is polite enough. Amaya's offered him up to the Mark for his services as long as they're here, and he submits to it with some reluctance. Gren's offer of a safe room to himself is a quiet boon he can't help but thank the alpha for, finally giving in and showing his private affection for the man.

Summary

Keeper Lyrennus has been providing counseling services to the refugees from Lux Aurea since his people were freed from the Sunfire Kingdom's oppression. This particular patient is a new type - one who lacks his memories.
Keshet knew their husband was in the depths of the city, close to the Sunforge, when it went dark. In the evacuation, they never found him, and they are living each day - trying to help construct supply lines for new clothes for the other refugees - knowing he is probably gone. With Avra still on a trip with her caravan, they hang on every day to the thread of knowing that she's likely okay, but it doesn't make getting by alone any easier.
Avra heard about the destruction of her partners' city and almost fled home immediately, but she is the mage of her caravan, and with the danger of the encroaching armies, she couldn't abandon her people. Still, she's convinced them to turn back to the ruins of the city, in desperate hope of finding them both safe.

Ilya hums, playing the card he's been considering for this entire conversation. “We could make more interesting, yes? A bet.”
“A bet,” Shane repeats, eyes flashing. “Like what?”
The reporter cuts in. “What about wearing the other player’s jersey?”
They both turn to her, and Shane says, “Like, the loser wears the winner’s jersey?”
“Maybe at the next game in a couple of months?”
“Is a good idea,” Ilya muses, nudging Shane’s elbow. “You will look better in my jersey than in Montreal jersey.”
Shane makes a low noise, his eyes holding a bit of a spark when he looks back to Ilya. It’s what Ilya was hoping for—the tiniest crack in the mask. He can see a hint of exasperated affection around the corners of Shane’s eyes, a little bit of fire burning just beneath the surface. It sends a thrill down Ilya’s spine, and he wonders if Shane will be snarky when Ilya gets him naked tonight.
“That’s not happening,” Shane replies, shaking his head. “Because you’re not winning.”
