Summary
Tenya cannot imagine what Tensei will do now, so used to Tensei being his hero is he. He pictures his brother alone in Hosu (because Mother and Father will leave, because they always do; there’s always something more important than Tensei and Tenya, always, always, always), hurt and hurting and with his legacy destroyed by Stain. He imagines this, and his heart hurts.
A world without the hero Ingenium is not one he is sure he can bear. A world where his brother hurts is not one he is sure he can bear.
So no, he doesn’t care at all about this work study. It is merely a means to an end. And he knows that if his teachers had known the real reason why he was here, that he wouldn’t have ever been allowed to come to Hosu or even near Tokyo; he knows Aizawa-sensei would have sent him across the country to Hokkaido or something. He’d be pulled in an instant if Aizawa-sensei found out his true intentions, even though he’s already here. The man would come on the next train personally to drag him back to Musutafu, and Tenya would lose his best shot at Stain.
He would do what he needed to do. Tenya would make sure Stain paid in blood for his crimes.

Summary
These little things are why Izuku loves being with Shou so much. Shouto understands that Izuku can’t just turn to the system for help. Best case scenario, he ends up back with his mother, his dream ripped away and he slowly withers away — he’s no longer himself. Worst case scenario, they throw him to someone who ruins him in the worst of ways, or sells Izuku and Izuku is never seen again. The system isn’t safe for people like Izuku.
Shouto knows the system is broken, has seen the worst of it and knows this intimately. So instead of trying to push Izuku into asking for help, he helps in all the little ways he can.
Yeah, Izuku loves and appreciates Shouto every day.

Summary
Toshinori and Naomasa don’t talk the way they used to anymore.
Toshinori knows a lot of the blame for that falls on his shoulders. He’s quite the workaholic, working even when he’s out of time in one way or another, and Naomasa is in high-demand — to get his time, it requires a willingness to be on Naomasa’s schedule, and Toshinori has… not been, admittedly, in more recent times, despite the fact that he could have been. He’s been absorbed in his own issues and his agency and finding a successor, and as his time with One for All grows short, Toshinori finds himself reflecting on his lost and damaged and neglected relationships more and more.
He’s turned down so many invitations for coffee or lunch or even just a chat, that he really just didn’t expect a call from Naomasa, and yet his phone rings early in the morning, a few days into the first years’ work studies, asking him to meet him for a private meeting, and so here Toshinori is, waiting in a meeting room at UA for Naomasa’s arrival.

Mate-pairings between the same sex weren’t against the law or anything, and they weren’t even that taboo. But a pair that couldn’t produce offspring was considered ‘unsuccessful’. Given his father’s standing in society, Izuku could not risk an unsuccessful mate-pairing. He was Japanese political royalty, and no social prince born of Hisashi Midoriya would be unsuccessful.
Izuku swallowed hard, nodding as his mother gently shoved him back towards the cliff ledge.
“Make us proud, sweetie.”

This year, Izuku is not only the homeroom teacher for class 1B, but also the teacher of practical quirk analysis for all hero course students, and an elective quirk analysis class available for the other courses. Plus the heroics classes he sometimes teaches. This job is a taxing one, but Izuku loves it more than anything. He’s not sure he ever imagined himself as a teacher, but he would be hard-pressed to find a career that suits him better. He smiles at each student as they begin to file in for the day.
“Morning everyone!”
“Good morning Midoriya-Sensei!” they exclaim in unison with the energy only a class of first-year hero students could ever possess.
“Today will be mostly normal for the most part, but in heroics, myself and Aizawa will be leading a joint exercise with Class 1A on quirkless combat. Good luck!” He says, with a smile that was meant to be bright but seems to bleed more into the sadistic zone. Aizawa has been rubbing off on him. His students fell into complete silence.

“I really am sorry I scared you,” Izuku murmurs as he bends down to carefully scoop the boy out of the snow.
He shifts his cargo carefully, adjusting his hold on the boy so that his head is supported and his face is shielded from the snowfall against the thick, deep green fur that covers Izuku’s body.
“Just hold on,” Izuku says as he turns into the snowfall to begin the long trek back home. “I’ll keep you safe, I promise.”
And maybe, just maybe, if Izuku does a good enough job this one will stay long enough to realize that just because Izuku looks like a beast now, he’s still human in all of the ways that matter.
