Elphaba, like a scared kitten, gets on Galinda's bed and sits beside her where she rests her back on the headboard. She watches as Elphaba tests the mattress—
"Very comfortable."
Galinda hums, a little amused but also saddened that this might be the first time in a long time that Elphaba has a bed.
"Do you want to... sleep?" A beat. "Don't look at me like that, Elphie. It was just an offer."Elphaba smiles at her. But doesn't accept nor refuse it—Galinda's hope is already building inside of her in the form of a little spark in her chest, imagining her and Elphaba sharing a bed again and sleeping together; perhaps Galinda will finally feel safe to fully submerge to slumber with her there.

They had first accepted to let the green girl work in their house because she was from the Church, because back then, at sixteen, she made the smart decision to introduce her services as being extended by her father's, she even used to drive his truck—the Church’s. It was only at twenty years old, and only to the garden's owners who had warmed up to her significantly, that she had separated herself from the Church and made her own gardening business debut.

There are many highlights of being in a relationship with Elphaba Thropp. She is sweet and caring and gives Galinda all of her attention. Galinda gets to fall asleep in the security of her arms with her heartbeat drumming in her ears and she gets to see her wake up in the early light of the morning. In those moments Galinda gets to appreciate all the details of her. The way freckles cover her cheeks like constellations. The way she scrunches her nose before she wakes up. The way the gap in her teeth shows when Galinda makes her laugh. But during those early mornings as Galinda is held in her arms, she finds what she appreciates most is the feeling of safety. And she has to admit that feeling is reinforced by the strength in those arms.

There’s a dog. Elphaba rarely sees dogs in her life in Munchkinland, but this is definitely a dog. Definitely not a wolf with that small size.
The dog is on the ground, hiding between the tall grasses just behind the bench Elphaba is sitting. Since when it is there, Elphaba has no idea. Maybe the dog has been there since the start, when she first felt as if she was not alone in this area.
She wonders how she could miss it—because the dog’s fur is a beautiful shade of gold. It’s a stark contrast against the green surroundings.
(Its fur reminds her of Galinda’s blonde hair, but then again, Galinda would probably throw a tantrum if she ever compared her perfectly beautiful shimmering blonde hair to an animal’s coat.)
(But then again, Galinda doesn’t appreciate Elphaba talking to her. At all.)
