Summary
In 1955, Doctor Kathryn Janeway runs the all-female computing department at the Rocket Technology Laboratory in Los Angeles, California. RTL develops everything from new jet technology to experimental atomic energy and all of these projects rely on brilliant women to run endless intricate calculations for the (all-male) engineering staff. Janeway, an innovative physicist in her own right, is relegated to simple calculations while her fiancé Mark Johnson reaps the glory from her hard work as the head of RTL.
When the machine shop manager, Chakotay Red Feather, brings Dr. Janeway evidence of unsafe practices, the barriers between the departments begin to break down leading to greater innovation and solidarity amongst the workers—much to the chagrin of management! Together, Chakotay and Janeway struggle against the attitudes of their society while attempting to expose industrial negligence that puts the entire Los Angeles metro area at risk—and grow closer in the process.

Note on ship tags: they are all in here, but this is a Chakotay/Janeway fic because that's what I do. Everything else is collateral damage to the story's circumstances.

For Joel and Tess, it wasn't a fairytale. But maybe it was something a little like love. This fanfic is a vignette-like prequel that explores the beginning of whatever it was that connected the two of them.
