“What happened,” Eddie says — doesn’t ask, because whatever it is, he knows he’ll spend the rest of his life hating himself for. Whatever it is, it’s Chris, and Eddie wasn’t there for it. Everything else is schematics.
“H-He…dios, Eddie.” Eddie’s only heard his father cry once before. “He tried to kill himself.”

Has Buck been waiting for years to get Eddie’s dick in his mouth? Yes, at least subconsciously — he can admit that now that there's no turning back.
Is he going to come the second Eddie gets anywhere near his own? Yes, probably.
Is he maybe a little bit entirely in love with Eddie, and kneeling between his legs feels a bit like a religious experience? Yes, absolutely.

“Your family is adorable,” she says with a smile, before turning her attention to the drawer to get Eddie’s change.
“Oh,” he breathes, blinking a couple of times, “thank you.”
It’s the only reaction that feels correct. That is his family. Unconventional, maybe, but real in every way that matters.
“How long have you been married?” She asks, finally handing him the change, and his brain comes to a screeching halt as he looks at her properly.
Hailey, as per the name tag pinned next to a little rainbow flag, who can’t be more than a few months older than Chris, thinks he’s married to Buck.
He doesn’t know exactly what to do.
“We’re,” he tries, before clearing his throat, “we’re not married.”

He could only dream about what it would be like to kneel at its shore and drink from its waters, but who wouldn’t? He’s thirsty as hell!
But then, Buck actually managed to reach it and discovered it isn’t a mirage, it’s an oasis, and now he’s just supposed to move on?

It was not a plan. Eddie resents the implication. He took steps, made some choices, sure, which led him to a certain outcome, but it was not a plan. When he went to the website, added the items to his cart, put in his credit card information and his address, when he waited for the package to arrive and when it did, ran to his bedroom to carefully unbox them, he didn't have an end goal. He just—he had an urge, an urge that he followed to now, to Buck's bathroom, sweating through his t-shirt and trying to cool the burning flush in his cheeks.
He looks at himself in the mirror, splashes his face with cold water, shakes out his hands to dispel the nerves and the heat flooding his body. He fidgets in place, moves his hips, and he feels the silicone shifting inside of him. The thrill of it makes his heart race and his dick stir in the confines of his sweats.
It's not a plan.
