The pressure on her wrists was released as Haymitch sat back up, still appraising her, deciding his next move. Gone was the sense of urgency from earlier, the need to fill their minds with frenetic activity replaced by a stillness that was far more effective.

Effie is always “doing her job” – always running herself thin with the scheduling and organising and preening. Haymitch is always giving instructions as a mentor, strategising, out being seen, in control.
