Claude does the quick math in his head—how much Lorenz loves him versus how much Lorenz loves his bedsheets, the average cost of rent in the college neighborhood, and how fast he can run from the other once he inevitably finds out how his sheets have been dirtied. Dimitri’s hand slides along his jeans and oh, that’s new, the tug of his fingers on the vibrator still within him. He jolts at it, gasping, and suddenly the math doesn’t seem to matter at all.
Not when Dimitri is pressing against him like this, raw and hungry and full of desire, the way Claude’s always wanted to have him.

Claude interlaced his fingers and stretched his arms above his head. “You focus on wooing Teach, then. I’ll start poking my nose around.” He got a glint in his eye when he faced Dimitri. “So, you know, what we’re both best at.”
Dimitri was troubled by his inability to stifle his flush, Claude all too pleased to see his cheeks go red. In an attempt to lessen the focus on him, Dimitri asked, “Will you tell me why you left the Alliance in my hands?”
“Will you tell me why you keep looking places without seeing what’s there?”
“That—” Dimitri worked around a tightening throat. There it was again: the steely lining to Claude’s expression that belonged to the version of him forged by the battlefield, not the too-young boy standing there. Still, he had no choice but to say, “No.”
“Then you’re out of luck, Prince.”
Out of luck, out of time, out of your mind, little prince.
Dimitri clenched his fists. “I suppose I am.”

“You’re not too bad yourself. I’d like to see how well you dance when you’re not stiff as a board. I was thinking I could help out with that.” Claude’s suggestion is accompanied by another of his salacious winks.
The night of the ball goes a bit differently than Dimitri had anticipated once Claude gets ahold of him both on the dance floor and off.

“Glad you got the hint, Your Kingliness,” Claude whispered against Dimitri's mouth, head tilted back to rest against the door Dimitri had pushed him into. As soon as he could, as soon as they could get away.
With Dimitri leading Claude down one of Fhirdiad’s long, chilly corridors, a hand that felt like it was ghosting fire rested against the small of Claude’s back. Some pretense about a tour, the thin veneer of an excuse brought forth by Claude’s light words, some preemptive assurance that he knew Dimitri would be “a more than gracious host, and shouldn’t I get to know a bit more about the place my army‘s gonna be shacking up around? There’s a bit more here than meets the eye, I think.”
Despite his words, he looked only at Dimitri, his gaze never wavering. And while Claude had eyes that often failed to match the airy shade of his smile, the fluid ease of his gait, this hardly left them empty, either, for those curious enough to look. And a low, sparked heat burned sweetly in their shining green, something even Dimitri had known better than to attribute to the sparse candlelight that fell in flickers all around them.

Claude gets a taste of good old-fashioned Faerghan hospitality, after all.

He hadn’t said his name, and the man spoke it as though it wasn’t new.
“So I’ve been told,” Claude replied in an even voice, and it felt honest. He couldn’t seem to work up any unease. Not even the same wariness the steep mountainsides caused to well up in him. He had only the same steady evenness, some certainty he couldn’t yet identify sliding into place. “A bit risky, too.”
“Are you fond of risks, Claude?” the man asked, but his eye was soft, the curve of his mouth more gentle than not.
“I suppose it depends what they can get me.” Claude met his smile with his own, then cocked an eyebrow, tilting his head. “And you are…”
“Dimitri.” A pause. “Of the Blaiddyd line.”
“Of the Blaiddyd line,” Claude repeated, and then nodded, as though it were no surprise.

Deep in the Gautier mountains, Claude meets a long dead king. Or, the anatomy of a haunting.

“Something like that. Although home gets more complicated the longer I think about it. So, as of now I’m trying not to.”

Following his rescue at Derdriu, Claude agrees to stay on with the Kingdom army until the war's end. Byleth manages to fit him back into their monastery rounds.
Or, a love story told in monastery explore dialogue. Or, six conversations Byleth has with Claude (that are actually mostly just about Dimitri), and one Byleth really shouldn't have been present for at all.

Summary
The Blue Lions are starting to pull ahead in Garreg Mach's charity bake sale. Claude's got no doubt in his mind that it's the work of Dimitri's princely charisma. Fortunately, he's got the perfect scheme: slow their roll a little by stealing away their dashing prince with a distraction.
Unfortunately for Claude, he also happens to have a big, fat, stupid crush on said dashing prince and tries not to let it show. It doesn't really go as planned.
Although that's not necessarily a bad thing.
