(AU where Shen Jiu Lives - Yue Quinyuan begins to receives volumes of a book series written by an anonymous author. The story follows a nameless lord's obsession over a slave who tried and failed to murder him and ended up back in his grasp. Soon after these books start appearing, the kidnapping of several young girls draws the Sect's attention to a school for artists just beyond the southern border, where fiction and reality are only a stone's throw apart.)

Summary
Liu Qingge screws up his beautiful face and, with the grace of a child dared to touch a particularly slimy newt, lurches forward to lift the red door’s heavy knocker. He raps it twice, then scurries back to take cover behind Shen Qingqiu’s arm.
Shen Qingqiu stares. First at Liu Qingge, then at the bird overhead.
“Are you unwell, shidi?” He asks.
“You said you’d defend my honor,” Liu Qingge says.
“Against what?”
(Liu Qingge is called back home to his family estate to meet a suitor and get married; he doesn't want to go and the sect can't afford to lose him, so Yue Qingyuan comes up with a plan to convince the Liu family that Liu Qingge is lost beyond all hopes of saving. Shen Qingqiu volunteers to play the role of Liu Qingge's despicable fiance without a thought as to what might happen when the jig is up.)

Arthur thinks that he can make Merlin come back to him if only he treats this Emrys the way he should have treated Merlin. Emrys, meanwhile, isn't interested in alleviating Arthur's guilt. He wants to play out his own fairytale; the problem is that there's a dragon in the way.)

He stops circling in front of Izzy, eyes blown wide and dark. “Open your mouth, dog.” It’s not a suggestion.'

'“I just wanted to thank you for–” is all Izzy gets out before Bonnet turns and spears him with a look so odious it burns.
And still, it’s less than he deserves, less than he got from Ed so close to the end.
The crew, none the wiser, ham it up or go about their tasks with all the enthusiasm of a second chance at life. Unable to do either, Izzy upends his mop crutch and does his best to clear the deck of splintered wood and crusted salt and gunpowder.
“Hey, no, no, no.” Fang nags his efforts, dumping armfuls of rotten wood onto Izzy’s tiny pile of dust. “We’ve got this sorted, boss. You get some rest.”
Izzy doesn’t argue. Just limps without thinking and winds up in the same place as always, standing outside of that low door. No longer concealed, it hangs ajar and lit from within, Bonnet’s lantern flickering as he weeps.'
