Kirk wakes up in Sickbay missing the last 3 years of his life. He can't remember graduating the from Starfleet Academy, becoming captain of the Enterprise or marrying the Vulcan that tried to have him expelled for academic dishonesty.
Kirk has amnesia and doesn't remember anything past the hearing after Kobayashi Maru test... especially bonding with Spock. Spock is understanding and doesn't try to pressure Kirk back into a relationship and instead uses this as a chance to woo his t'hy'la the same way Jim wooed him.

It’s been a little over two years since Kirk was promoted to Admiral, and since the day Spock left in the middle of the night unannounced, headed for Gol. That’s when, seemingly out of nowhere, Kirk begins to show signs of fever and adrenaline overload reminiscent of the Vulcan pon farr.
After realising Spock is due for his next pon farr around this time, Kirk begins to theorise their experiences may be connected somehow. But if that’s true, then why isn’t Spock doing anything about it? In an effort to save both their lives, Kirk steals away on a ship bound for Vulcan. Shortly after his arrival, he is told that he and Spock share a telepathic bond, one which must be severed if Spock still hopes to complete the Kolinahr.
(Angst with a happy ending. There is an attempt at bond severing, but take one look at the two of them and tell me you think they can be separated. There’s also possessive desperate break-up pon farr sex half way through, so enjoy that.)

Bilbo paced in front of the medical tent. How had it all gone so wrong? Thorin was hurt and it was all his fault, but somehow seeing Thorin’s body lying unconscious on the bed was worse. The fresh bandages wrapped around his middle were already beginning to stain a deep red. He would stay as long as necessary to make sure that Thorin would be all right, but when the dwarf woke the next morning, Bilbo was nowhere to be found.

The headache was driving him crazy. He couldn’t think. Everything seemed to blend together and he felt nauseated. He was doing all he could just so that he would not slip into a panic attack.
