    After the promised day, Ling decided to remain in amestres after receiving word that the emperor's oldest son had usurped the throne.

    He honestly wasn't all that disappointed at the news considering his relationship with Ed was taking a favorable turn and he would like to be there to support him as he continues his duties as a state alchemist.

    Things quickly take a turn for the worst when xingese assassins are sent to kill Ling.

    Or, I put Ed and Ling through hell for no good reason… The promised day happened differently than in canon. Al got his body back from Hohenheim’s sacrifice. Ed keeps his alchemy but doesn't regain any of his limbs.
