You’re hurt.” Ivan’s voice is quiet, final. He steps back, and Till feels the loss like a physical thing. “And you’re inexperienced.”

“I know.” Ivan moves toward the kitchen, and Till watches him go, furious and desperate and aching. “That’s not the point.”
Till follows him, restless energy burning through his bruised body. “The point is I want you. The point is I’m— and you keep—you keep acting like—”
“Like what?” Ivan pulls out a first aid kit from under the sink, methodical. He’s compartmentalizing, treating this like a problem to solve rather than something happening between them.
“Like you don’t feel anything towards me,” Till spits.
Ivan goes still. When he turns to face Till, there’s something different in his expression—something that flickers across his face too fast to fully hide. Hurt, maybe. Or anger. On Ivan, it’s hard to tell.
“You know that’s not true,” he says quietly.
