It was bad enough being stuck on the other side of that glass, watching them torture him. Lance wouldn’t ever be able to forgive himself if he sat there and let him die.

Sanji looks like he’s fallen asleep standing up. Zoro recalls the way he had staggered up in front of him, clothes torn and skin marred and bruised, and put himself between Zoro and Kuma. He had stood there, arrogant yet so proud, feigning he was put together after the blast despite his whole body shaking.
"I’ve always been prepared to sacrifice myself for the others."
Zoro holds his hand out and lets the cook fall into it.
