    “Did I do something wrong?”

“No. No, Hollander,” Ilya coughed, eyes flitting around the room. “Is just– Is too much.”

“This is… too much?” Shane repeated slowly, incredulously. “We see each other maybe once a month. Less, even.”

“No. Is not that– You are just,” Ilya swore under his breath in Russian. His accent was getting thicker, the words clunkier, in the way it always got stronger when he was frustrated or tired. Shane hated himself for recognizing it. “...too much.”

In the Heated Rivalry book, Ilya intends to break things off with Shane the night of the All-Star Game, but then Shane gets hurt. What if Shane never gets injured by Marlow, and Ilya really does break things off?

(Basically, a shit ton of angst and Shane Hollander learning to love himself. There will be a happy ending!)

    Summary

Shane turned to face Ilya. He wasn’t yelling anymore but he wasn’t lowering his gun, either. Something in Shane’s chest twisted when he noticed tears welling in Ilya’s eyes. He wanted to brush them away. Ilya saw Shane looking, they made eye contact briefly.

God, he was beautiful! His curls, his chin, the slope of his shoulders. He was angelic and prideful and wrathful and for a split second Shane pictured him with wings and a flaming sword, falling from heaven because of his own vanity.

    “Lyubimyy,” Ilya whispered.

    “Mon coeur,” Shane answered.

The Rozanov Crime Syndicate exploded right around the time FBI-hopeful Shane Hollander was caught up on the periphery of a Russian mob hit. It's an opportunity for the FBI to get a man in deep cover. It's an opportunity for Shane to do something great, write history (like he was supposed to do in hockey). It's all perfect. But sometimes the stars don't align for the reasons you suspect, and loyalty looks a lot different when you're down in the trenches with the man you love.

An undercover Shane/crime boss Ilya AU. There will be violence, there will be emotional pain, and there will be yearning!

    Summary

When Shane Hollander looks into the future he sees— not a flat sheet of ice, not that, not anymore, but something equally as empty.

His backup plan was always to go to university. He hadn't thought he'd ever need it, not really. Especially not near the end, when everything felt so certain. But his grades were good, his mom made sure of that, so when he woke up in the hospital he already knew what he was going to do next. But after?

There's a standard path people take, he knows, that comes after school. But when he tries to picture it, slot himself into the picket fence and the corporate overhead fluorescents, it disappears. Like it was never going to be real at all.

(Or: after ending up at a jazz bar to celebrate the end of finals season, Shane Hollander finds himself where he never thought he'd be— in the orbit of NHL superstar Ilya Rozanov.)

    Summary

“Not at all,” says the Ambassador. There’s something very odd about his tone, and Spock thinks -- with a momentary sinking feeling that he only just manages to suppress -- that he’s made the wrong decision. He should have contacted his father instead, or at least taken the Ambassador’s communication in private, where he might have been able to more easily decline. As it was, Spock had cornered the Ambassador and made a very inconvenient request with a bridge full of old friends weighing the situation against him. As if he can read the conflict in Spock’s face, he continues, more firmly, “Jim’s counterpart in my own time was more important to me than, I think, you can understand at this point in your life. If he doesn’t prefer something more private, I’d like to host him myself. To have him here while he recovers would be a most welcome reminder of that...importance.”

His mother did not think Spock understood loneliness for what it is, that he did not understand the way it creeps unbidden into a heart and splits like a wound. She did not think he felt its socketed mouth twisted open and yawning at the heart of him, hungry to be fed.
