Summary
Opera's bleeding out, the Misfits are trapped in a spell that's going to kill them, and Kalego is, yet again, the only responsible demon in range. So (because it's his job, not because he cares, darn it) Kalego saves all their lives, Iruma and Opera's included. Turns out there are consequences to that... such as collecting a certain security devil, duty-bound to serve him for life.

The writing is brilliant, so satisfying and beautiful and... solid? Descriptive in the best way. Qifrey and Olly are exactly as I see their characters, and the hurt/comfort/angst never disappoints. Real good soul-stabbing heartache that doesn't lose tension, just changes it. Olly as 3rd person narrator nails it. Read again when you need that injury/sickfic/denial/strong caregiver fix <3

Summary
Olruggio was busy. That was how it started. Privately, he thinks maybe that’s how everything started. He’s always too busy, too overworked and overtired to pay attention, losing time and forgetting everything about Qifrey. It’s a damning thing, that he meticulously tracks everything about his clients but can barely seem to keep it together enough to remember conversations he has with his one and only best friend. Qifrey already does so much to take care of him; it’s the least Olruggio can do to remember their time spent together. He doesn’t. Maybe if he did, things wouldn’t have gotten to this point.

There is likely a far more clever metaphor for their relationship, of perhaps a more ironic saying: a moth to a flame. If it were not painfully revealing, Qifrey might use it aloud. But what could possibly be more human than gazing upon the stars?
alternatively: Qifrey is still found by Beldaruit, still buried, but in addition to bearing a seed of silver- he bears its natural predator as well. An AU in which Qifrey is a Silvertree Moth hybrid, and how that changes a few things
