It dismantles his own conceptions of reality. It keeps him returning again and again, now of his own volition, with a grip impossible to combat. And the only person who understands him is the one he routinely meets during every trip. A boy holding their universe so mightily within his eyes that it collapses at the first threat of abandonment.

Like the gradual descension of a carousel, the turbulence settles into a calm so soothing he almost misses the chaos. The inexplicable restoration of all five senses has him feeling as sober as he had when he arrived at George and Pattie’s door. But he isn’t there anymore.

"Still arguing?" George asked with a light smirk, but John could still see the slightest hint of concern behind his eyes. They were stood in the middle of a London television studio, he could hardly remember which one, the last few days being an exhausting blur of travelling, drinking, shouting and snide remarks.
(It's 1964, Paul and John have been arguing for weeks. Brian, and the other two Beatles, try to intervene. The fight turns nasty.)
