Summary
A clawed hand wraps around your mid section, nails slightly digging into the soft flesh of your stomach. You don't have to question the very obvious warning of the action, body freezing in a mix of fear and anticipation as their sudden strength leaves you shaken. Under normal circumstances, you'd feel much more embarrassed at having someone so close to you like this- but this obviously wasn’t normal circumstances! So instead you settle for staying as completely still as you possibly could.
Stars- were they fast.
Your back presses against their front, throat bobbing when another hand comes up to wrap around it. Their nails lightly graze across your skin, almost in a teasing fashion before their thumb tilts your chin upwards. Your eyes squeeze tight, trying hard not to whimper lest you gave off the impression of being easy prey.
They chuckle into the crook of your ear- obviously amused at your show of quivering bravery.
"What's a little hunter like yourself doing all alone out here?"

There's something bittersweet about watching the person you hate to admit you've grown fond of walk away with the life you were supposed to have. Another you taking what the very Universe has denied you.

There is a distant sound from below. You startle and whirl around to see a bright dot stumbling towards the base of the tree. Curious, you clumsily make your way down the woven branches and stand just above the little nook you and Loop used to theorize, plan, and chat in.
The figure falls to their knees, clutching their face as shaky sobs interlaced with harsh breathing leaves them. They claw at their bangs and, in a frustrated movement, rip the hat off their head so that they can better pull at their darkless hair. They scream, not in agony, but in anguish. You—

Summary

Summary
This wasn't how it was supposed to end. Everyone they have ever loved is dead, or dying, or wished they were dead. The kingdom is in ruins, the survivors barely holding on. If they could fix it, they would. If only they had more time.
And time was theirs to command.OR
